WMG Academy
A powerful and unique partnership (involving the University, Jaguar Land Rover, the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, the West Midlands Manufacturing Consortium, more than 30 employers and local schools) created the WMG Academy for Young Engineers.
The Academy delivers a business-led and business-like education for young people aged 14-19 in Coventry, Warwickshire and Solihull.
Responding to clearly articulated local skills shortages, the Academy has an occupational approach to engineering, including digital technologies and Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

In their words...
Innovation, exploiting new technologies and the deployment of technical skills are at the heart of WMG's mission and at the heart of WMG Academy's vision for our future engineers. By ensuring our students have both the academic knowledge and practical skills required to enter employment, we are preparing them not just for their careers, but also to help change the world.
Professor Lord Bhattacharyya, Chairman and Founder, WMG
We are proud to be University sponsor of the WMG Academy; engineering and digital technologies are central to the region and the country's growth. We have invested both resource and expertise to ensure the quality of education matches that of the high standards expected at the University of Warwick.
Professor Nigel Thrift, Vice-Chancellor, University of Warwick
Jaguar Land Rover are extremely excited about the opening of the WMG Academy for Young Engineers and what it will mean for the support of engineering skills in the region. The close collaboration between the academy, university and local industry will make for a truly unique learning environment.
Jo Lopes CEng FIET FIMechE, Head of Technical Excellence, Jaguar Land Rover
From the very start we have a clear mission and vision for the WMG Academy, and that was to be business-like and business-led. We wanted to create an environment where young people with a passion for creating, doing and designing could acquire the technical and business skills required to become the engineers of the future.
